The Brief:

The garden is situated in a city centre location and is very small. The design was to be contemporary, utilising an element of recycling to achieve the final garden. The garden was designed for entertaining along with cooking and growing a few herbs and vegetables. The garden had to include two bins, a compost recycling unit and a water butt.

The Garden:

The 24sqm garden is small and with plenty of things to fit into the space, practicalities and creative thinking were a must with the design. The main focus of the space is an elliptical water feature/table. Around this, the garden has seating for 6 which is built into the raised beds behind which in turn are clad with recycled coffee cup tiles. There is a pizza oven with small kitchen work space besides and wine rack beneath. The beds are planted with a mixture of colourful perennials and edibles, using pyramids and aluminium hanging baskets to increase the planting space. There is an herb garden growing on the top of the bin storage area and discreet water butt hidden on the house wall.
