Oleaster hedging or Elaeagnus x ebbingei hedging

The broad, silvery, metallic leaves are the great attraction of Eleagnus x ebbingei. The plant is extremely hardy and resilient to many conditions, even salty wind on the coast. Just be careful to to make sure that the hedge is well watered whilst it is getting established if you are planting it in coastal areas however.

  • Elaeagnus can be deciduous or evergreen shrubs or small trees, with simple, often silvery-scaled leaves, and small fragrant tubular flowers borne in clusters in the leaf axils, and followed by small juicy fruit.
